Our Vision

Through our core Christian values of Love, Courage & Hope, we nurture, encourage and challenge each unique child to be kind, be respectful and be the best they can be.

At Long Sutton Church of England Primary School, we aim to provide rich, memorable learning experiences which build character in each individual child. Strong relationships underpin all we do in our small church school, where we value and respect each other’s uniqueness.

We provide the space for all children to flourish and be the best they can be. Our broad curriculum inspires great learning through engagement with the outdoor environment and enables our children to develop positive emotional and mental health and an understanding of their place in the wider world. Our children are nurtured and challenged to become resilient learners with high aspirations.

How does our vision relate to our everyday lives?

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

Our Choir sing for the villagers of Long Sutton and South Warnborough and surrounding areas at various events across the year including the very popular Tea at 3 in the local village hall at surrounding village fetes and other annual events such as the tree lighting ceremony at Christmas. Jesus showed love by caring for everyone. By giving our time and talents to bring joy to others, we are following his example of loving our neighbour.

The Choir also had the incredible opportunity to sing at the Anvil in Basingstoke and shared a beautiful song based on the Irish blessing ‘May the road rise up to meet you.’

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

Each April, we take time as a school community to recognise and celebrate the vital role our military children play within the Armed Forces family. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, adaptability and strength they show every day, whether that’s coping with change, supporting their families, or quietly helping others around them. This month gives us a special opportunity to say thank you, to listen, and to let our service children know how valued they are in our school. Jesus brought hope through encouragement, reassurance and promises of God’s love. Supporting military children reflects that same message — that challenges do not define them and that support and brighter days lie ahead. All children and adults have the opportunity to show their support by wearing purple or yellow for a day. Purple is the colour chosen as it blends the colours of all service branches. Yellow is another option as it represents the dandelion - the official flower of the military child. Parents of our military children are also invited to a tea party.

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

Every year we raise money for Place 2 be during Children's Mental Health Week.

Place2Be supports children’s mental health by listening, caring and offering help when children are struggling with their feelings. This shows love in action — being kind, compassionate and looking after others, especially the most vulnerable, just as Jesus taught us. Many children that Place2Be helps are facing worries, anxiety or difficult experiences. It takes great courage for them to talk about their feelings and ask for help. Place2Be gives children hope for the future by helping them understand their feelings, build confidence and believe things can get better.

Over the last 2 years we have raised over £550 for this super charity.

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

The Green Rangers are a team of children, representing each class, who care about looking after God’s world.
The group work together in school, to help the environment by raising awareness about environmental issues and taking action by events such as litter picks, recycling, and saving energy at school. This year we are working towards Plastic Free school status.

Our enthusiastic Green Rangers started with a Trash Mob, in the school playground and on the field, at lunchtime picking up all the litter they could find. Although they picked up approximately 110 plastic wrappers, they were impressed that the number found was down dramatically since the last litter pick and shows the impact of the wrapper free snack policy. Caring for our school environment shows love by respecting shared spaces, demonstrates hope by looking after the future and reflects the behaviour of Jesus, who taught us about care, responsibility and stewardship.

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

Working with the Hampshire Wildlife Trust, we have developed a long‑term vision to improve biodiversity across the site and support our school’s climate action goals. Over the coming years, this project will transform different areas of the grounds into habitats that support insects, birds, small mammals and plants, while also providing valuable outdoor learning spaces for pupils. By caring for our environment, we showhope for the future. We are helping to create a welcoming place for current pupils and for future generations. Jesus spoke about growth and renewal, often using nature in his teachings. Looking after our school environment reflects our belief that the world is God’s creation and that it is worth protecting and nurturing.

This is an exciting, hands‑on project that brings learning outdoors and helps children build a lasting connection with the natural world.

Love, Courage and Hope in action:

We love to visit our local church in Long Sutton for special services, to help us with our RE learning and to take part in prayer spaces. We also have lots of visitors from the local churches throughout the year, this helps us to think about different ways of worshipping God and how faith is important to different people.

Churches are places of hope, offering encouragement, prayer and support in difficult times. By working together, school and church can help children and families feel supported and hopeful about the future.
Jesus brought hope through his messages of forgiveness, new beginnings and God’s love. Our links with churches help keep that message of hope alive in our community. Over the last 2 years we have donated to the local ‘Pick ups for Peace’ delivery to the Ukraine. Two of our regular visitors came to show us the truck and we helped to pack it up. It was very exciting!

Our Values

Our 3 school values have been carefully chosen to reflect our school identity. They are woven into every aspect of school life and drive our curriculum priorities and our school policies. These values underpin every aspect of school life: we teach children what it means to put these values into practice everyday and we recognise and celebrate when we see children living out our school values in their own lives.

Love

We show love to each other through small acts of kindness and through encouraging others with kind words, remembering that God loves us and we can love ourselves and others. We will let our love shine everyday.

Courage

We show courage by standing up for what is right and respecting each other’s differences; persevering when things are difficult and encouraging others to do the same. We try to be wise in our choices, even when the right choice is the hard choice.

Hope

We show hope by trying to be the best we can be in everything we do. From tiny beginnings, we hope that we can all make changes for the better, improving ourselves, our community and the world in which we live.

Our Rules

Our 3 school rules are intrinsically linked to our school values. They are intentionally simple and easy to remember but they are deeply woven into everything we do at school. We teach our children how to live out our school rules through using a shared language, setting high expectations and recognising when children live out our rules in their daily lives. We have chosen a Bible verse for each rule, which helps to remind our whole community what our rules look like in action. We have even written songs to help us commit these Bible verses to memory!

Be the Best You Can Be

‘Let your light shine before others so that they see your good deeds and give glory to your Father in Heaven.’

Matthew 5:16

Be Respectful

‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’

Luke 6:31

Be Kind

‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.’

Ephesians 4:32
